The Midterms Trade Playbook
The midterm trades, how to trade them, the names I own + want to own, and more.
Midterms are around the corner.
Historically, midterm years tend to bring more volatility as market participants weigh political uncertainty, shifting policy expectations, changing market leadership, different market dynamics, and an overall “vibe change.”
But volatility doesn’t only create risk, it can also create opportunity.
There are a few different groups of stocks that might be hinting at which group wins the midterms and as a result, which stocks and groups will benefit.
Remember, catalyst driven trades can be very lucrative.
If you recall, our SpaceX IPO playbook found here ended up being a home run. The best part of that trade was getting positioned before the narrative fully hit and everyone got on board.
I think this midterm setup could be similar.
I’m posting this a few months out because the market often prices things in early. By the time October and November come around, a lot of the move may already be done.
You want to be early. Not late.
If you’re not already in the subscriber chat, I strongly suggest paying attention to it.
This is where I post all of my new trades as I enter them. I walk through the trade idea entirely including my thesis, risk level, cost basis, and more.
In the past few weeks, I’ve alerted subscribers that I bought multiple new trading positions including:
FLNC at $17.8x
TE at $6.4x
NET at $204x
SMCI at $35x
PLTR at $133
RDDT at $160
The chat is also where I post a daily thread with my thoughts on the day ahead, relevant headlines and macro events, my main focus names, notable upgrades and downgrades, and anything else I’m watching.
It’s basically become a live market group chat. We have a ton of smart people sharing ideas, setups, headlines, and observations throughout the day, and there’s a lot of genuine alpha in there.
I honestly think it might be one of the most (if not the most active) subscriber chats on Substack.
Come join us!
In the remainder of this article, I’m going to discuss the midterm trades I think are setting up, which names I already own, the strongest groups and themes, the best names within each group, their charts, and more.
Think ahead. Midterms are a few months out, but like the SpaceX trade, you don’t want to be stuck buying too late.
